June 1, 2025: Dinosaur Day.

June 1, 2025: Dinosaur Day.

"Dinosaur Day" on  1st June celebrates dinosaurs and their remarkable ability to intrigue us.

They roamed the Earth for millions of years during the Mesozoic Era. This period is split into three stages: the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous Eras. Each period saw massive geological and environmental changes that led to vastly different dinosaur species. Some of your favorite dinosaurs may have lived hundreds of millions of years apart.

Dinosaurs reigned the Earth from roughly 245 million to 66 million years ago. They were the dominant species on Earth for nearly 200 million years. For context, humans have only existed for about 250,000 years. The dominance of dinosaurs would not last forever, and around 65 million years ago, they went extinct. With the current evidence, it's hard to determine the immediate cause of this mass extinction. Some scientists suggest asteroid impact, while others suggest volcanic eruptions and climate change.

Dinosaur Day is celebrated twice a year: the third Tuesday of May and June 1st. While there isn't a specific theme for Dinosaur Day in 2025, the celebration aims to spark curiosity about these prehistoric creatures and encourage appreciation for their fascinating history.

"Dinosaurs are just really cool, why wouldn't we want a day to appreciate them?"

"There's something magical about connecting with a species that went extinct so long ago."
